Five questions with Helen
Tell us about a moment from this week that you want to remember.
We just had our first-year birthday as Cornerstone Anglican Church and celebrated three baptisms! It was such a joy and encouragement to hear those three young people share their stories of Jesus transforming their lives. I am so thankful as I reflect on God’s kindness and faithfulness to us as a church over the past year and look forward to many, many more years to come!
What did you do last weekend?
I attended the One Love Conference with a few women from church! It was so encouraging to worship God in a room with so many women and be reminded of God’s faithful plan for our lives—even when we might not always understand what He’s doing or His timing. He always has a good and perfect plan for those who trust in Him.
Can you share a favourite Bible verse with us?
2 Corinthians 12:9: ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness…’. This verse is such a comfort to me because it reminds me that our weakness is welcomed by God. I regularly feel very weak, but I remember that when we are weak, He is strong and He is glorified when we are fully dependant on Him.
Tell us about your favourite meal growing up.
I used to love this meal my Mum made from our community cookbook called ‘frankfurt noodle casserole’. It was basically frankfurts, pasta (usually penne or spirals), some kind of tomato sauce, capsicum, and cheese (I think). I often asked for it as my birthday dinner, but I’m not such a big fan of frankfurts these days!
Who or what has encouraged you recently?
This is hard just to pick one! I am so encouraged by our church family in general but recently especially by our growth group. It is such a joy to meet, have dinner, study the Word and pray together each week. Recently we’ve seen God answer many of the things we’ve been praying for together and that’s been so exciting.
