Five questions with Shane
Tell us about a moment from this week that you want to remember.
I work as a support worker and provide care for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. This week, one of my clients, who is a devoted churchgoer, told me that she prays for me every time she goes to church. She also mentioned that she prays for all the workers, that they would come to know Jesus. I was deeply challenged and inspired by her dedication to prayer and her relationship with God.
What did you do last weekend?
Last weekend was my lovely wife Sally's 31st birthday. We went to Long Jetty with a few friends for the weekend and had a great relaxing long weekend. We are lots of amazing food, drank good coffee and explored the town and the beach.
Can you share a favourite Bible verse with us?
Psalm 16 says that in God's presence there is fullness of joy, and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore. Though this was written by King David in his own circumstances, it still speaks powerfully to us as believers today. Even now, we experience God's presence in part through His Spirit, and this brings a joy that is beyond words. Just imagine what it will be like to be with Him in all His fullness for eternity. I cannot wait to be with Him forever
Tell us about your favourite meal growing up.
Honestly we were a pretty basic Aussie family, but what comes to my mind would have to be the classic sunday BBQ cook up. Burgers, sauso's, kebabs, potato bake & salad. Good hearty food, so many great memories!
Who or what has encouraged you recently?
The community at Cornerstone Church has been such a huge encouragement to me lately. There are days when I rock up not really feeling like serving, but then I see others, whether in my team or in different ministries rocking up and giving their best. It encourages and inspires me more than they know. I'm so thankful to God for a community that serves willingly and puts others before themselves.
