How did you meet Jesus?
Growing up in a strong non-Christian household made it extremely difficult to know anything about Jesus until I was old enough to have the desire to learn more about him. The desire came from a random Tuesday night: I had this gut-wrenching feeling that I needed to go see my grandparents, whom I hadn’t seen or thought about since I had been kicked out of my home five years prior, when I was 12 years old. The next day, I placed myself on their doorstep and went from there. Soon after, I found out my Pop had been diagnosed with cancer the night before—the same night I had that feeling that I needed to see them. Even though they weren’t Christians at all either, it was my mate Jesse who told me that was God working in my life. This made me want to learn more about Jesus. I joined a school mission trip to head over to Fiji, where I soon learnt more about God. In Fiji, I met people who literally had nothing, and yet their hearts were set on fire for Christ like no other. When one of the leaders on the mission trip invited me to their church, I went along and never turned back.

How has Jesus changed your life?
I think one of the biggest changes has been how quickly Jesus impacted my old way of living and how quickly He became the most important thing in my life. I used to go out partying until all sorts of hours, whilst hanging around with the wrong crowds. After meeting Jesus, it quickly became clear to me that I couldn’t serve the world and the Lord at the same time. Ultimately, I had to pull away from those friendships that were pulling me away from Christ. Sadly, this included my family, who struggled to support the decision I made to give my life to Christ. Whilst this was challenging, I also think it was the biggest blessing I was given, because it led me to lean on other brothers and sisters in Christ who’ve helped to guide and shape me, to point me back to Jesus, and to understand that Jesus is the only true way to experience life’s satisfaction. People come and go throughout your life, but the only constant is Jesus.
