Five questions with Carla

Five questions with Carla—Cornerstone Anglican Church Box Hill

Tell us about a moment from this week that you want to remember.
Celebrating our daughter turning thirty and reflecting on all her wonderful God-given gifts and qualities.

What did you do last weekend?
We spent the weekend away with our family celebrating our daughter’s 30th birthday. It was spectacular weather, and we watched whales breaching and did a great cooking class on a hilltop overlooking the ocean. God made a beautiful world!

Can you share a favourite Bible verse with us?
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”—‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ (‭NIV‬‬)

Some may see this as a cliched coffee-cup Bible verse, but I’ve been impacted by the enormity of these words again lately, especially the vastness of this love from our good God. People will truly be free from chasing after empty dreams and internal turmoil if they meet Jesus.

Tell us about your favourite meal growing up.
Mum didn’t love cooking—she’s more of a creative art type—but she used to make a delicious Sunday roast.

Who or what has encouraged you recently?
I’ve enjoyed reading John Mark Comer’s book Practicing the Way. He’s easy to read, highly engaging, and articulates well, and the content is both challenging and compelling. There’s no room for apathy in a Christian life.
